However, the problems can occur with distortion pedals. The distortion effect comes with a lot of harmonically rich content that may not sit well with these acoustic amps with some hi-fi properties. However, this approach would make no practical sense as you could just plug in your multi-effects pedal into a PA. Playing an acoustic guitar with a piezo pickup through an electric guitar amp will give a completely different set of problems.
The most common one is the excessive unwanted feedback, especially the one pronouncing lower mid-range spectrum. As the acoustic guitar body is one big resonator, the sound and vibrations coming out of an amp might cause it to vibrate more at a certain frequency, and thus cause more feedback. Depending on the type of the guitar and amp, you could technically make some decent tones with an acoustic guitar plugged into an electric guitar amp.
Adding the soundhole cover to your guitar might help, and you could possibly make some jazz-like tones in the style of hollow-body guitars. With this said, it would be easier to play an acoustic guitar through a solid-state electric amp. A great example comes with Line 6 Firehawk — a massive 1,watt amplifier that serves the purpose for electric guitars, basses, and acoustic guitars. Although relatively new on the market, this is one of the most praised solid-state amplifiers out there.
The Katana series amps often include plenty of very useful effects. In case you need something smaller, this amp features 10 watts of power and brings enough versatility for both electric and acoustic guitars. Although the size of a lunch box and with two very compact 3-inch speakers, this amp delivers some amazing tones.

It wouldn't play all that loud, but at the volumes it was capable of it worked great , I wouldn't hestitate to use a rig like that for a coffee house gig, for example.
I also knew a guy who was using a Sansamp pedal and an Acoustic guitar amp. There are any number of suitable amp model devices out there that would fit the bill in your case that would allow you to get some more "trditional" amp sounds out of your Acoustasonic You may even already own one. Try it out, you won't hurt anything, and you might be surprized by the sound you get. Nov 18, 6. Posts: 3, I played for a long time using a Peavey Ecoustic amp. Sounded great to me, no one ever said to me Nov 18, 7.

Sure glad I asked… Interestly, the amps work great for Gibson ES clean jazz style guitar, and don't harm them at all. I'd think it's a question the company which makes it is best suited to answer. Just because you've argued someone into silence doesn't mean you have convinced them. Tony Done. Not a silly question at all. I've always used electric guitar amps for both electrics and acoustics, but I've been wondering about getting an acoustic or keyboard amp to get more "acousticesness" the high transients out of the electrics.
I've discussed this with my amp tech mate, and he thinks it is a reasonable idea. My concern would be the fact that an acoustic amp is full range, whereas a true electric guitar amp never ever ever has a tweeter. The natural hi roll-off of a 12" woofer is doing us all a favor. Acoustic amps, Keyboard and bass amps too are all full-range. All times are GMT The time now is AM. User Name.
