I only want to hit something like 4. I haven't touched my memory in any way. I've done what you said and I was only able to get to 4. What kind of CPU do you have? Maybe the inverse is true as well? Just re-read your post. Again, not an expert, but I know that in order for a computer to display different behavior different times something has to change.
I have in Intel i5 k. My CPU is not fried. It still works perfectly at stock settings. I will always be able to get to the BIOS. I have an old Frankenstein build that I'm at a sort of crossroads with.
Given that sandy bridge processors are nearly a decade old, I'm wondering if I should overclock this build with a Hyper or something and squeeze some more juice out of it and save my money for a new, non-shitty monitor, etc.
I'm a pretty casual PC gamer, but I'm thinking about foregoing purchasing an Xbox this winter and instead just playing some stuff on PC instead, namely game pass games halo infinite, etc. I've got a 6GB that I purchased around when destiny 2 was released, which I figure will be alright for me for a little while longer.
Don't expect to be hitting triple digit FPS, but a good is still possible in most titles. P67, Z68, Z77, etc. From what I've seen, these increased speeds can help a lot in CPU limited scenarios. It's always worth it to at least try to OC. No sense in leaving performance on the table. That said, you should probably start saving for a new rig and move that to HTPC duty or something. Theyre fantastic overclockersGive overclocking a shot, when i had my k i was able to hit 4.
But save some bucks, AMD will be releasing their new Ryzen chips soon. You can get those b or a b if they release it next month and ram for probably under total to get your running.
I would overclock everything as much as I safely could, meanwhile saving up for the coming ryzen generation. Your graphics card is only 2 gens old, and the gpu will have a much greater impact on gaming than your gpu will. I assume you have an ssd? If not, get that firs. What screen are you using? I think my plan will be to get a decent cooler and overclock for now.
Just overclock it. Even if DDR3 is lower frequency, the fact that Xeons can use 4 channels more than makes up for it in speed. That means they can achieve max turbo frequency on all cores. That's a good bump in performance. Jul 12, - A rivalry for the ages, and a question often asked and wondered about. Jul 5, - Does RAM size and speed affect your gaming performance? Find out here. Jun 23, - Mid- and high-range builds perform very well for their price, and are better than the entry-level in terms of power, longevity, and reliability, and they offer more bang for your buck especially when looking at their price-by-year advantage.
Jun 11, - Pre-built systems are an attractive option for those who are less concerned with the minute details of every component in their build. If you want to OC and have a non-K, literally the easiest solution is to sell it and buy a k, so long as your mobo supports it. Non-K overclocking on Intel is dead for all reasonable purposes. Some motherboards are better at this than others. Voltage offset is best at this. Mar 12, 2, 23 Good question! I messed with the Bclk a tiny bit, and the best I could get [and still have set to] is So im really running at mhz. In the grand scheme of things that is absolutely nothing, if you want to overclock buy a K series chip.
If you dont then dont expect to oc much. Of course I could be wrong and it could be that my motherboard does not like a higher blck. The board I have wont post beyond I did try and it took about 15 power offs to get it back on default settings Regardless, if you dont buy a K Cpu you are tied to Oc via the Bclk and your not going to get much either way out of it.
Even Bclk is a small oc. Compared to the intel chips of the past the K's are a boring chip to overclock. So its like i thought, but was wondering if there is a way Also can i get some cheap mobo and try it on?
Or my only options are p68, z68, z77 or z75 from some post i have found on internet which are not very cheap. And about overclocking my vid card, well cs:go is cpu intensive game so my gpu gtx is ok with it,i even play it everything on low with small resolution. Originally Posted by jombotski. I would not be spending money on a new motherboard for that chip.
Save you money for a new system.
